a/c fan questions?

a/c fan questions?
i have a 97 f150 4.6, and the ac fan seems to have quit. but it will blow every now and then. starting on the lowest speed, as you progress to the highest speed it cuts off, and when returned to low it remans non-functonal for a given period of time and randomly decides to work again. any ideas on what could be the problem? i wouldnt think it was the resistor block bc it works on low? need help. thanks.
