Hey Ya'll,
I just took a trip with my truck, and as it got hotter, I turned up the a/c. The fan sounded like it was blowing harder, but didnt come out of the vents any harder than it was on low. We stopped for somthing to eat and when I got back in, It worked on high speeds again. If it stays on low for a period of time, it does not change from low (all though there is a fan that goes faster, maybe a fan for the intake of the air?) Any help would be great!
Sounds like you have a blower motor resistor pack going out. When it burns out, high speed is all you will get. It is located under the dash above the passenger foot well. Unplug the wiring connector, remove the two mounting screws and pull it out. Good luck!
two things. there is only one fan as KR said, and the fans speed resistors are as mentioned. second thing is if the fan is running and the air is coming out the defrost and not the vent or floor, then you have a vacuum leak. the air damper doors that control where the air is routed to and controlled by vacuum cylinders and vacuum from the engine manifold. if you have only defrost, look for a vacuum leak in small hose on firewall, passenger side of the motor, by the glove box area??
