Question Disc Brake Question.

Hey All,

question about 61-64 front brakes.... I know speedway motors offers a kit for the half ton trucks with the 5x5.5 size wheel, Does anyone know who or how to get disc brakes on a f250 of the same year trucks with 8 lug?

Thanks for any input.

No such animal. If you want one it needs to be custom built. We can look at it saturday.

I'm also interested in upgrading the brakes on my 62 F250. At a minimum I'm going to set it up using a dual master cylinder instead of the single line out...that single brake line sent my dad and his hunting buddy backwards down a mountain side and almost cost him his life, let alone the truck. Luckily all involved survived with minimal damage.

Garbz2 and Bill W,
Thanks for the reply to my question. This sounds real promising for my 64 F350 Dump truck. I'm hoping to get 8 lug rims and disc brakes in one shot. I originaly bought the truck and gave it to my Dad, unfortunately he passed a few years later and the truck has been parked because the original 6-lug split rims were rusted and not safe to drive anymore. The old truck had not been moved in about 10 years, when I picked it up. My dad was like a kid in a toy store when he seen it, so I had to let him have it. When we got it home 45 min. later we had it running, no bull****. I piddled on it for a week or so, and got everything to working. I will try to post some pics of it later. Thanks again.

I've looked, but never found anything for a 4x4 8 lug with a solid front axle. Lots of stuff for the twin I beam setup though.

I will be making brackets for my 3600#44hd and for the Dana 60 in my crew cab.

I will use 4 wheel disc with a hydro boost assist from a 1 ton GM in lieu of a vacuum booster.
