I have a F250 Built in July 94. The guy at NAPA said it's a early 95 model and first ordered me a a/c compressor but it's a 6 groove and didn't match up. Then today ordered a 8 groove which were the only two choices he had on the computer.
Is there a such thing as a 7 groove besides on my truck lol I seriously hope so on the serious note though.
Am I correct in my truck being the 94.5 model first gen Power Stroke it's a DIT.
The reason for changing the a/c comp is due to when turned on the clutch would start smoking plus get real hot.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Not sure about the groove count but if the compressor is OK you can replace just the clutch as an assembly.
How many grooves are on the other pulleys on the engine? they all need to be the same.

All of the pulleys are 7 groove. What causes the clutch to get that hot in the first place though? I've only used the a/c a few times since I bought the truck then one day the clutch was barely turning and saw white smoke coming off it so I shut off the a/c. Didn't want to start any fire really.
How do I shim the clutch or tell if it's the correct gap.
Thanks again for your help.
Don't know on the bearing without looking. They can be pressed apart . Most likely needs shimming . If the clutch bearing is bad , it will make noise ,air on or not ..I

Well thanks for the info. Was wondering theough if the compressor part seized up on it or just the clutch if that's possible.
