Max A/C

In my manual it says that the max a/c recirculates the cabin air. Is this the only difference between it and regular a/c? Also if that is the only difference can I run my max a/c for extended periods of time or will it hurt anything?

That's the only difference on any a/c, and no it wont hurt anything. In fact on some vehicles it's better because it doesn't suck as much dirt into the evaporator core.

hmm so basically it just recools cabin air, so less dirt and more cold inside as well. sounds like a win-win to me

What I was taught is that the max A/C recools the cabin air. Once the cabin gets cool from your regular A/C switch it to max A/C and it will cool the cold air inside the cabin and make the air even colder.

Additionally the Max A/C will save you some fuel because the condenser doesn't work as hard on recirculated air.

the only thing that threw me off was that in the manual it says that once you get the cabin temperature cooled to switch it back to reg a/c. I cant figure out why you would switch it to regular if it recirculates cabin air on max a/c

I guess you've never ridden in a farm truck with cow manure all over the floors or picked up girls in a West Memphis trailer park. Believe me, outside air is a good thing sometimes.

The only time I usually ever use the max A/C is when there is a dead skunk on the road, or something horrid smelling.

You got it buddy! In the line of work I'm in, outside air is everday equipment for the job. Gotta get those smells movin. Sure don't want it settlin in my seats. If my truck's gonna be smelly then it better be from huntin, fishin, or truck grease!

Not far away at all. I'm down Rio Grande from Harvey Mitchell closer to Rock Prairie. You don't happen to have a death row diesel eyebrow do ya?
