I need to replace the electric switch at Passenger side rear of my 95 trans. It is down near the pan .What is it called and how do I replace it. I am 16 and trying to learn and appreciate any help. Chaz
I have never replaced it,but I believe the the switch you are referring to is called the multi lever position switch or MLPS. do a search on here, plenty of info. what problems are you having with the truck that makes you think this switch is bad?
Maybe it would be appropriate to ask what issue you are having and trying repair? From which perspective are you referring to as right? Looking from front to back? From the driver's seat?
Perspective is from drivers seat. Switch is on passenger side, low near pan and rear of trans. There is fluid present so I think the switch may be defective. I would think the lever position switch would be the one on driver side attached to shift lever. Thank You
Please forgive my error you were exactly correct it is the MLPS. My issue is fluid inside the female half of the connector.I would think the o-ring issue would refer to an external not internal leak. I just am not sure how to replace it. I am pulling the pan today for a filter service and will search posts for a how to. I purchased the truck with no drivetrain and am trying to handle any issues before I install my 5.0 and trans. I again thank you for your help.
