ok, in a movie i saw a Denali ( fancy suburban ) that was all black, black paint, black grill and bumpers. well, thats what my 2002 F250 is like. its called the "built tough" edition superduty, different interior, the grill and bumpers are black and so is the paint. i can post a picture of it if someone will tell me how to.
ok, heres the question- on the movie the Denali i saw had BLACK five spoke rims ( gloss black ) my truck has Ford rims, polished aluminum or chrome, whatever they are. do you think my truck would look cool with black rims, or would it be too much, kind of overkill? thanks for any opinions. im not bent on doing this but its an idea ive been kicking around for a while.
I've never liked the idea of black rims because of black tires. I've seen some tricked out rides that have matching colored rims and they look cool but I'm not into the black wheel/tire combo.
I think the black rims look awful. Do ALL of us a favor and keep that truck as original as possible, and here's why:
Your truck was actually known as the BFT edition, which stood for (of course) Built Ford Tough. At least that's what Ford intended. It seems some do-gooders actually took offense to these initials, thinking they stood for Big Ford Truck. This IS a SuperDuty we're talking about, you know. Anyways, somebody brought pressure on Ford to change it, and it's now known as the XLT Sport (yawn). So as far as I'm concerned, you've got a potential collector's item there (by the way, I'm always wrong about these things). Keep it orginal and looking good!
If you are that into it, get another set of rims, maybe the stock steelies or something, paint them black, and put your tires on them. Then you will have your original rims, in original condition, plus the look you want. IMO, if it's a black truck, with black trim, and blackwall tires, you can't go wrong with black wheels.
1956- i understand where you are coming from, about keeping the truck as original as possible. unfortunatly, i screwed up the day i bought the truck. i bought it, intended for work, and my daily driver. once you start using them for work, originality sort of goes out the window. i think im just going to stick with the stock wheels. thanks everyone
Some tire shops will put a set of tires and wheels on your truck so you can see how they look first. Les shwab (local tire shop) did this for me..... Might look good I dont know....hmm....
