well guys still haven't been able to get the truck in. it is a work van and i really need it right now. dropped the tank and fuel pump over the weekend. cleaned the tank out but i didn't really look bad. could not get the pump to prime again which confirms that it was weak. replaced and caught prime immediately. symptoms have now changed some as its still intermittently not starting. i don't have to blow through the filters anymore to get it to start. now i noted the initial buzz from the injectors is intermittant. if i get the buzz its starts. so now i have to turn it on and off until i get the buzz. what do you guys think? someone said bad idm relay or bad ficm. i looked at the distribution box and noticed pry marks at the relay (slot F). i bought the truck used a year ago but this is the first time i've had problems with it. Also still no codes.
Did you ever test the voltage on the ficm? Sounds like you might have a bad ficm or the connections to it arent very good. There is a process in the tech folder for checking the voltages.
never checked the voltage but did read up on it. pain in the butt to get to in a van. I've been running fuel cleaner and i haven't had a problem in 3 tanks. Hopefully the cleaner took care of it. could the injectors of been that gummed up? i'm getting the buzz every time now and its starting right up. if problem starts to occur again i'll look at trying to get to the ficm.
