I suppose with everything stock, the tranny temps get to 150*. I have a 6.0 tranny cooler and bigger pan and I'm hard pressed to hit 150* when towing heavy and hard.

Lot's of good info here.

Thanks for all the info. I got the oil checked and right where it should be. I checked it with engine running cold and it was right in the middle of cold, then I drove it the hottest I could get the tranny is 135* and it was in the middle of hot. So I should be good to go. I pulled the transmission and had it rebuilt, and everything goods great

Oh really? I never knew that... I've always checked it cold. It's "good" cold... I wonder what it is warm? If it's low, then maybe that's why I was having the "not shifting into 4th" issues? It hasn't done it in awhile though... my trip must've cleaned it out really good.
