ENGINE RECOMENDATIONS

I'm sure this ? will get many varied answers. I come from the early bronco world and as ya'll know there is very little choices there. I am new to this site and have been reading some of the various comments on this subject. I just bought a 1975 f-100 4 wheel drive that had a 300 6cyl in it originally and I put a 302 that I had already built. I was contemplating a 351w but I have seen alot of positive comments about the 390. Any suggestions will be great. Thanks

What type of performance are you looking for? Torque, rpm,all around?

Looking for all around just a good strong motor no race truck but no daisy either.

460 foget about using anything else you can do it all with this motor . you can build a low rpm tork monster for up rooting trees or a 600 pluse ci. 1000 horse power tire burner what every you want to do this is the block to use.thank the lord for the big block ford.

Pretty much. Greater aftermarket support than the FE series too. If you're going to go through the hassle of swapping engines you might as well go for the big gun. There is still no replacement for displacement. 460's are littering junkyards everywhere, and FE series motors are far less common, at least where I'm from.

Because there were millions of them produced, and people don't realize how superior they are to the big block chevy. 385 series Fords don't end up in the yard because they are worn out. Rather, the vehicle's they inhabit are worn out.

I'm with the 460 guys, best allpurpose engine ford built. Used in cars ,trucks, boats , industrial, ect. You can make it mild or make it mean , but its allways tuff.

yes they are in junkyards another good reason to use the 460 parts are every were.
