If you unplug 2 sparkplug wires on a 460 thats what a360- 390 runs like. The sky is the limmit with a 460 you can build a nice torker to somthing scary its all in how much money you want to spend. Its worth it

Too funny, I've had and like both, but I will always have an FE.

lol, I was just stirring the pot but I will say this, my '87 stock 460 didnt pull any better than my old '73 360
V8? Go with the 460. Pound for pound, it'll get better mileage and power than all of the other ford "bigblocks"... Yea, yea, it know Ford never made any big blocks...just different engine series.
Personally, I think the 300 is tough to beat for an all around perfect truck engine. That's what i'd go with... and there's plenty of aftermarket support for the I6's if you want more power/performance
It's all in what you plan on doing with the truck.
Doesn't the 460 require a different bell housing and motor mounts than a FE engine? If so, would the gain in horsepower over the 360-390 be worth the money?
maybe not that much mileage difference, but much, much better performance. the 460 is just a superior engine.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o></o> Again, go 460 if you must have a V8. Personally, i love the 300 for different reasons.
Do some research, as getting the clutch to work without buying an L&L flywheel takes a little figuring. If you're running a C6, it's a no-brainer.
i wouldn't worry about the front end. For the most part, large tires kill front ends, not dead weight under the hood. 460 isn't that much heavier than the stock V8. probably 150lbs heavier. there are plenty of stock fords out there with heavy bumper/winch combinations that do just fine under a D44
