about year ago my mechanic installed a new thermostat housing with a temp sending unit in it. when i have the wire hooked up to this unit it says my engine is running normalalmost cold, but when i hooked it back up to the original sending unit on the intake manifold it tells me i'm overheating 50% of the time i'm driving. should i be concerned, or is the sending unit in the thermostat housing going to give me the reading i need? The engine runs fine and i never leak any coolant.
The problem with the temperature unit in the thermostat
housing, if the thermostat doesn't open, then it will not
tell you the true temp of your engine. With a normal coolant
temp of around 190 degrees, the temp sensor should be about
100 ohms......Good luck!!
