Where is the best location for door poppers, seeing as I've shaved the door handles.
with bear claws you aren't supposed to need poppers.. yeh right..
I put them in the lower corner at the latch side of the door.
make sure to mount the little protection plate on the door.
and if you haven't painted, the place I found my door pulls had a great safety,
run 2 wires from the connection to the door wire to some spot outside the cab, where you can connect a small battery to fire the door pull motor in case of dead big battery.. rather than a cable.. make sure the hot side is on the pull side of any fuse.

Does your poppers interfere at all with the alinement of your doors as it seems the springs in the poppers are rather strong.I was hoping that the weatherstripping would give enough spring to pop the doors, I guess not. Did you mount the poppers on the doors or the rocker panel? Good tip on the safety if the battery goes dead, thanks.

mounted to poppers on the rocker panel. don't affect the door alignment at all.. mine are tension adjustable.. they only pop the door open 3 inches.. enough to get your hand in.
be careful there isn't much room here. . a round headed screw holding the popper to the rocket will scratch the door
i installed bear claws and so far haven't needed to install the poppers. hit the button and my door pops open about 4-5"s guess its different on every truck

You have a very nice truck, BB Chevy most make it motivate quite nicely. Do you think the weather stripping is enough to push the doors out, do you have to slam the door to fully latch the door. Just curious as to all the particulars of operation.
don't know if the weatherstripping is what does but but doors shut easily. heck they are easier to shut than the ones on my 2003. thanks for the compliment on the truck doing something on it every day it seems. hope to get new paint and new interior in july or aug. these are latches i used http://www.triquemfg.com/altman_easy_latches.php

I am using the soft hollow foam weatherstrip from Pepboys, not the hard stuff everyone else sells. I do have to slam the doors to get it to latch completely..
the gasket material could be 1/2 the size.. and its smaller than the stock stuff.
