blah blah blah, whatever.

These things made to destroy themselves or what?

I cannot keep a damn bolt in that sucker to keep it on there, let alone keep it from tearing itself apart.

Anyone come up with anything?

Miss understood

William
I thought you meant half the bolts broke of not half of the cover.
Guess its to the salvage yard or tin smith one yourself.

replacing it wont stop it from shattering itself.

I'm trying to figure out some way to fix or modify or something to keep them from trashing themselves.

with the SMF, it just destroys them.

Seems to be you are the only one having problems... operator error? If your flywheel is smacking that cover hard enough to destroy it you've probably got bigger issues.

Did you ever finish changing the u-joints out. I remember you were having vibration issues a while back and you were going to change them.

Yea rockey, I did that a long time ago before my trip, they already have 5k miles on them.

The vibration, i've determined, is the 4th and 5th gear whatever in the trans, the bushing is just wore. Its only at 53 to 58 mph.

I guess if you HAVE to fix it with a heli coil then you do, but damn, replace that **** ASAP.
Those things are not reliable in some places. haha.

Are you sure its in the tranny? Try rotating the drive shaft 180 degrees.

i've had the drive shaft off 4 times.
=)

My truck has 300k on it man. I don't know what was done with the truck before I bought it with 240k on it.

Also, considering, it only happens in certain gears.

But again, this is a thread about the flywheel cover, not my vibration.

But, nobody apparently has any idea's to keep it from being destroyed.
Oh well.
