Since I recently got my lift, my radius arms have been bugging me. My lift kit used the factory radius arms, which have slightly rusted, and now are much more exposed. Pretty much looks like crap! I would like to fix this, and I figure while I'm at it I may as well touch up everything else. Things like the radius arms, drive axle, the hitch point, and a couple other little things.
What is the best way to do this? I'm looking for prep tips, what paint to use, and how to apply it. Things like that.
For some reason I think the best thing to use would be Line-X. And I would apply it with a brush. I'm thinking this just because it's really tough.
POR-15 is some of the best product on the market to help eliminate Rust and strengthen the integrity of the metal. There are tons of info and pics on this site........ POR15, Inc. - Stop Rust Permanently - Repair Gas & Fuel Tanks
LineX is a bed liner type stuff that coats metal with a thick covering. They can be sprayed with a can, however most of the be liner stuff is very thick and is best painted via brush for best thicker results.
Not seeing how bad the rust is, I would think you could use water to remove the light rust, Rust-mort with a rag and gloves to turn the remaining rust to primer and Rustoleum to paint it. It would last a long time.
POR-15 is only good for areas that do not get sunlight, unless it is top coated. POR-15 isn't UV stable.
I've seen great looking results by just applying rattle can Rustoleum to the rusted area. A friend makes it part of his normal maintenance to buy 2 cans and touch up the exposed areas evey 6 months. It actually looks good and is pretty inexpensive.
I used Rust Bullet on my oil pan when it started to rust. All you have to do for prep is get the large loose flakes of rust off and coat with the Rust Bullet. Mine has been on for almost 4 years and still holding.
Well thanks for the help guys, I've got a good idea now.

Your right, you can't buy it in the open market. What's the next best thing that I can use? Hurculiner or something? Just ned something similar to Line-X that I can get at the local store.
Also, I was told that it would be a bad idea to do the drive axle because it may throw it off balance. Is this true??
I like the Rustoleum textured paint. The headahce rack I painted came out looking like I powdercoated it. They have it at Wally World.
Okay thanks. I was some Duplicolor bedliner but it didn't look that great...is it as texturized as Line-X? Has anyone else had any experience with this?
I used duplicolor on my ranger bed. Its not as textured as line-x, but when it comes to DIY bedliners vs dealer, the dealer ones are almost always more textured, look better, and are tougher. The duplicolor did have some chipped spots on my ranger. Herculiner is more textured than duplicolor IIRC. Just dont get it on your Hootus!!
