I think the housing will give you a slight amount more whistle. That's what we put on my wife's truck. The wicked wheel should be fine to fix the surge issue, but it involves removing the turbo to install it.

Now go change your signature

I haven't seen too many 7.3's with an SCT tuner. How many settings did you have on it and how does the DP compare? Since you're just now asking about surge, I can guess what the SCT was like.

I have been having the same questions ever since I got my PHP chip. I don't want to do the WW and the surge still be an issue. It sounds like the ATS is a more definitive solution to our problem, but it is also $300 more expensive. I am probably going to go the WW route and find someone who has more experience pulling the turbo to help me.

Pulling the turbo is a breeze Bob. I know that you can do it.

When I did my WW I noticed that I had lost a couple of PSI of boost and that with the reduced airflow I had a tad more smoke. Just my 2 cents.

I took the WW route as opposed to the ATS housing. I don't do any towing really but on the street I'll lay the hammer down so to speak lol. Since installing the WW I have never had the turbo surge once. If money is no issue, maybe you might wanna go for the ATS. For me and most of us here on a budget the WW worked just fine.

IMO go with the WW....much cheaper..the ATS is ok..but the turbo is still only going to get you 27 PSI at most without killing its self..you want no surge and lots of whistle..go with a 38R...you wont hurt that turbo till your in the 40 PSI range..

Now, does the WW give you anymore power so to speak or does it just eliminate the surge?

Yeah that's going to have to wait. Will I see any gains with the WW?

The ATS has a 4 inch air intake, that's what i have, i like it, no surge no matter how much you pull.

I did the WW with the turbo on. It sucked but we got it done. It cured my surge. No issues what-so-ever. I pull a three horse bumper pull, a 29 ft travel trailer, and an all steel dual axle POS with a Bobcat 873 on it. I have 35 inch tires with the stock 373 gears.
