I have a 36' Class A Motorhome built on a 2000 Ford chassis with a Triton V10 (40,000 miles). Today on the way home from a trip I noticed that at 60 mph Iwas not going into overdrive -- normally I'd be doing about 2500 RPMs at 60 MPH & I was up over 3000 RPMs. All gauges were normal, no strange sounds, no check engine lights, etc. I checked the oil & tranny fluid -- both normal. When I got back in the MH I noticed I had very little power, very slow acceleration. When I got back up to 60 MPH I also noticed that not only was I way over 3000 RPMs, but my air conditioner had shut down. I know this occasionally happened out west when climbing steep grades -- the A/C automatically would shut down to give me a bit more power. After perhaps 30 minutes driving with little power, everything went back to normal?! Good power, overdrive on level ground 2500 RPM @ 60 MPH, and the air conditioner working fine. Anyone have any ideas what is going on?????
Thanks.

My first thought is that you have a clogged catalytic converter. It has happened to me in the past. My thoughts went to everything from a sensor failure to transmission trouble.
To check this, disconnect your exhaust system ahead of the converter (like at the Y-pipe) and go for a short spin. If your power is restored, you have found you issue.
