Transmission Question
I have an 07 E350 PSD van with 5 spd. transmission. When towing my 8000 lb travel trailer I go 60 mph at 2000 rpms in OD. Occasionally it will shift down when hill climbing or bucking a strong headwind, and run at 3000 rpms. I have not experienced "hunting", I don't think, which I believe is rapid shifting up and down, however, sometimes when driving into a headwind the rpms will increase to around 2500 and hover in that area, which I assume is the torque converter opening up.
1) Is this normal, or should it be downshifting?
2) If this is normal, should I continue to drive in OD, or turn the OD off and let the trans shift down?
3) Do I have a ZF transmission?
