So i bought a 1970 429 motor and will be having it rebuilt will i have to convert it to electronic ignition is it even points what needs to be done? also msd over pertronix kits which is better? what all is needed? thanks

Just get the Pertronix kit, you won't belive the diffreance!

The Pertronix is a nice unit, but toss the points and condenser in the glove box. I've have the Pertronix unit fail on me and was glad to have the P&C as a spare to get me home. Just a thought.

I have had a pertronix fail also. Not sure why though. Perhaps a dope I let work on my truck. I would keep a set of points as a spare as stated. Pertronix 3 made a huge differance.

I would just use factory parts to convert it to stock ford electronic ignition

x2. it says you have a 79 with a 351m. get some swap mounts and the right auxilary brackets and your dizzy and ignition system will run it. same firing order, simple swap, been done thousands of times
EDIT:make sure to get the right oil pump, pick up, and pan
