I was just talking with ed about that a couple days ago. Neither of us really knew much about it. I was thinking about being the guinea pig for it to see how it works but it looks like you beat me to it Please report back once you get it installed. I'm really curious if this CPS finally a replacement for the original black CPS's. I should probably go ahead and order one myself so I finally have a spare in the glovebox

I replaced the grey with the Ford #F4TZ-12K073-C at the same time I put in singe shots a little over a week ago. First time #8 has ever passed the CCT since I bought AE about 18 months ago. With the grey I would get an intermittent #3 failure and #8 always failed. I have the International black in there now but haven't run a CCT. I'll run a CCT tomorrow.

Was this one blue as well or black as you describe towards the end of the post?

The #F4TZ-12K073-C is real dark blue with a purple o-ring.

The black one is like then one my truck came with.

You got new injectors as well as all the other work you did. I guess you had to get your tunes re-done for the injectors? I'm curious about the black cps cct numbers. Post if you can.

I'm running a black c99 cps right now. I don't have AE to do some testing. I probably swap it out just because I can.

Yes, I had to get my DP F5 re-burned for single shots. Only have two tunes at present. Modified stock for single shots and 80E. Just enough to get me to Oregon. You get up to 16 tunes included with live tuning. Im scheduled for live tuning with Jody at RRW next month.

When you had the dark blue in your truck, how did it perform? I realize you had new injectors at the time but I was curious about how it idled. Was there a reason you switched back to a black CPS?

I'm just concerned with idle. I'm curious if it's different than the grey CPS's

Like an idiot I swapped to the dark blue cps the same time I intalled the new injectors so I cannot compare it to the grey cps. The idle with the single shots is nice and smooth (for singles) with either the dark blue or the original black. The best thing I ever did to get a smoother idle was to install the CCK from DFA. The FRx from Clay at Riffraff Diesel does basically the same thing but would be easier to install. I got the CCK long before the FRx came out.

I bought two original black CPSs. One is in the truck and the other I carry as a spare. I have heard that changing from one type of CPS to another can effect tuning. I wanted live tuning using the black CPS and if I ever have to change it I have another black to put in.

Looks like I need to pull the trigger and buy one from ed. I have the grey one in now and I don't really see any problems with it. Although I have nothing to compare it to. The main reason is I need a spare to carry with me. I figured i'd install the new one and carry the grey as the spare. I'm also trying to save up for a regulated return. Apparently it works wonders with idle and quiets down the engine.

Sounds like a good plan. I will decide on a full regulated return after a dyno run at RRW. Right now I can hold 60+ psi fuel pressure post injectors. Also waiting to see if Clay comes out with a regulated return.

FWIW my OBS had a gray CPS when I bought it. I came up with a #2 and #4 high to low side open code. Swapped to a used black CPS I had (have one more plus a brand new IH black CPS still...) and the codes went away. The gray CPS is evil, throw it away and get something else. On that note, if someone has a failed black CPS or one they don't want please send it to me... I want to do a comparison between black and gray underneath the plastic.
