Excursion master cylinder problem
When I put the old reservoir on the new cylinder, it seemed like I got both tubes to fit all the way down. But today there’s a small amount of fluid seeping out. It’s not coming from the brake lines but its gathering on the bottom of the master cylinder. From what I can tell, it’s leaking from around the rear tube of the reservoir but I think that’s being caused by the FRONT tube.
I took a picture of the front tube and there appears to be a gap between the reservoir and the cylinder. I don’t know if it’s supposed to sit flush or is this gap correct. I’ve tried everything short of taking a hammer to the reservoir to push it further down but I can’t get it to budge. I’m afraid to use too much force, especially if I’m wrong.
Can someone double check your own vehicle, or as most of you will probably already know the answer to this question without having to go look, and let me know. Any advice will sure be appreciated.
OK, it appears I can't post pictures but I can tell you the gap is about 3/8 of an inch from the bottom of the reservoir to the top of the black rubber gasket the tube goes into. But the rear tube sits flush. Is this right or do I need to get the rubber mallet out?
Thanks in advance.
