You're right, most folks run until failure. But the intent/definition of PM is to prevent failure. Electrical components subjected to dramatic heat cycling become more prone to failure with age. Replacing prevents the inevitable.
And 02 sensors definitely degrade over time. As they do, fuel economy goes down. 100K miles is the most common cost/benefit figure. Some say 60K if you do your own labor. IE, what you pay, you will recover in fuel savings over the next 60K miles.

PM is not replacing parts that dont need it. do you put new head gaskets or exhaust manifold bolts or gaskets in because they may fail. no you dont even though they might fail later on. PM is changing oil keeping fluids topped off and changed regularly. lubing joints and replacing simi worn bushings.
to the OP dont waste your money on things that dont need changing.
