question about front coil
Hey all. This may be a stupid question, but I've never had a truck this new so I'm a little overprotective. I've got a 2009 f-150 crew. On my front passenger side there is what looks to be a plastic sleeve inside the coil and around the shock. This sleeve is cracked. Is this anything to be concerned about? Should I have it replaced?

It shouldn't effect operation as long as the shock is not leaking, but I'd still have it replaced under warranty. It can rattle and wear the paint off the other surrounding components, allowing them to rust. Not to mention that sometimes stuff like that can rattle and be heared in the cab, driving the occupants insane is as little as 20 minutes...

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at the parts catalog for the 2009 F-150 online and noticed a dust cover that fits over the top of the shock. It looks like this is what is cracked. It's a pretty thin piece of plastic. If this is the case, does it still warrant attention? If so, I'll do as you suggest and get it looked at under warranty during the next oil change.
