I started installing an aftermarket headunit in my dads 95 F150. I hooked it up rough at first and it worked but than 2 bare wires touched and now the memory wire doesnt have power. I checked the fuses in the panel and they are good. Not sure if there are any other fuses under the hood that blew. Not sure what to do.
Yes it has a fuse I checked that too. The radio wasnt even plugged into the harness when it happened. Hope I figure it out without running a new wire to the radio.
I hooked a stock radio up in the truck and it does not work either. The lights come on for the radio but no power. It is the green with black stripe wire that isnt getting power. It is for the memory. The keyed hot has power as well as the illumination wire. I may have to run a new wire from the fuse box for a constant hot if I cant find the problem which kills me to do
I tried to trace it back but I cant find it once it goes into the dash from the radio. Do you know where I could find a diagram? Id like to test the wire all the way back to find the problem.
I looked in my Chilton, no good! Inquire at your library's reference desk, or on E-bay for the Ford publication:
1995 ford f150 electrical and vacuum troubleshooting manual...it contains all of the diagrams
OK the truck is not at my house so I cant check this yet but in the owners manual the #1 fuse in the under hood fuse box says audio power so hopefully that is what broke. I found a schematic online and the memory wire goes to the underhood fuse box so it makes sense. Ill let you know if I fix it.
