MISS

Have 03 6.0 stock other than head studs, with 105000 miles. Runs perfect except 1 little problem. I live on a small curvey mountain in north Alabama, so you know it is not a big mountain. I normaly hit the foot doing around 50 to 55 mph, but slowing for the curves and the pull before you get to the top the speed has droped to a point that it is about to downshift, but before it does the truck starts missing and making a popping sound, sorta like backfireing but it sounds asif it is coming from under the hood. A final note, this September 30th. the day I had my trans. flushed, also does not do it every time.

Thanks for any help

Sounds like your turbo is sticking causing turbo farts (the noise you hear) if the turbo isn't sticking, could also be EGR related. I would pull and clean the turbo and EGR valve, per instructions in the tech folder, and see if that helps. Also, try using tow/haul mode on that hill to get the RPMs up and keep it from building too much boost and back pressure at low RPM.

If it's Monte Sano your going up there, I would use T/H that does help quite a bit.
