I just swapped a dana 60 rear axle into my 96 250. Its out of a 78 F250 rig. It doesnt have a VSS sensor-Question: Am I screwed? what can I do? My ABS light is on, no speedo, and trans shift is like limp mode! Any help would be great, gotta go to work in about 12 hours and need a ride! lol thanks guys
my first though is screwed.
Sorry crude but well....
second thought is why did you do the swap? the sterling you just removed is a good strong axle.
Third though is you might be able to make it work. you will need the vss to get the tranny to shift correctly and to get the speedo to work. Maybe you can get the sensor to work in the older axle. Just a thought.
Thats kinda what i thought too. I dont know how to make the sensor work in the old axle without drilling into the pumpkin and it would be a lot easier to just swap back to the sterling. I lifted the truck and the old axle has the right gear ratio and lockers already, mine is to tall of gears for the tires and is open diff. Oh well guess its time to spend some $$. Thanks Neal
They put open diffs on 4X4's also. The truck I about bout new was just like mine but two tone red/white and had 3.55's and an open diff.
Glad I went with the red one. LOL
