you'd be surprised . oreilly's and napa ,when you can talk to an older guy with automotive knowledge and can read the "books" carries a lot of parts for them . all my tune up parts , carb kit , master cylinder , they had the pumps for smiley , my now sold 49 f-4 , starter too if you can believe that .............................
so parts are out there u just have to know where to look, theres hope! lol, it rained all day so i couldnt work on it like i expected. but i will be pulling tommarrow and i have a few buddies that are comin over to check my work. so estimate??? on the pressurizing?? hot tanking? just so i know what to deal with when i head to my machine shop of choice
no idea on the machine shops . they vary from place to place and it's been almost ten years since i had to tear into one so far . now i know my buddy borm put out some serious cash for some work on his hemi-roid . that one needed a lot though ..........
I'm not sure what your intention is for the old gal. Just to get it running again? To check it out, give it an overhaul, put it back in something? Before you haul it to a machinist to do a lot of expensive work, do some researsh. There is a lot on the Ford flathead forum and other places.
A lot of us clean these up and overhaul them for reuse.
A lot more guys hotrod them and try to get big HP out of them. Big difference and big $$.
You can't do any machine work until the valves and pistons are all out and often this is not necessary.
Go ahead and pull her out, get her on an engine stand and go slow. See what you've got (cracks between the valves and cylinders are usually a death blow, but sleeving will often heal) before you spend a lot of $$.
look at his pics and to me it seems denver , he could just clean her up and stick her back in and go . what do i know though , hades i keep breaking all my shtuff !!!!!!!! LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That'll change - after you get it running, but it will.
.... i keep telling myself no, but i know exactly what will happen lol, didnt get to work on it today. too much stuff to do but ill update in a few days and tell everyone how its going
Nice. The 410 in my wife's car is a factory 390 stroker, so I'm familiar (or getting that way) with these FE big blocks. Looks good, sounds mean...hopefully ours will too soon (once I get that dang coolant tank braized--again).
