Hey Guys, Started on my way home from work today and truck was running fine. Went to pull away from stoplight and suddenly the trans would not shift above 2nd gear. Engine is fine, got it home pulled codes P0750 and P1705 P0750 Shift Solenoid A P1705 Trans Range Circuit not indicating Park or Nuetral during test.
First question, are these easy fixes? If not, am I rebuilding a tranny?
the trans range switch is easy. i dont know about the rest. if you go to get the trans switch, make sure it is the exact one. ford had a hard time find ing mine.
Falcon,
Would the Trans Range switch also cause the shift solenoid issue? I feel it shifting from 1st to 2nd but then I'm doin' 2500 rpm trying to maintain 30 mph. Will shift into reverse and neutral just fine.
It can make it not shift because it isn't sending the signals out right. Also you can check your VSS (vehicle speed sensor) on top of the rear diff. Most of the time you just need to pull it out and clean it off with a cloth and put it back in.
Everybody is OK with ignoring the shift solenoid code? The shift solenoid that makes the trans shift 2-3? I'd think that would be the thing to fix, not the TRS. That code sets if the trans isn't in park or neutral when the test is run.
OK, I sent the truck to a local tranny shop. Engines I'm ok with but trannies are a different thing, let's just say I know when I'm over my head. The magnet in the bottom of the pan was covered with metal shavings. One of the ports in the valve body was almost completely clogged with metal shavings. Can anyone say new tranny?
