I'm looking for some advise on the Rough Country or Trail Master levelling kits for a 2005 FX4. Thoughts on either one would be appreciated...or would you recommend something else?
Don't know about those ones but a very popular one on here is the Autospring. I personally have the 2.5" leveling kit. The quality and workmanship on the product is awesome. They run like $80 on ebay
I've had an Autospring kit on mine for the last 18,000miles and haven't had any problems. Alot of guys on here run the AS kits and love them. I'm shure the Rough Country and Trailmaster kits are good, but I'm sure they're alot more $'s than the Autospring and are probably not any better.
i was going to install mine but you have to have a front end alignment so it was a better choice for a shop to do it. they installed it and alighned it for like $150 but im friends with the owner. expect 1.5-2hr for install and a front end alignment. if your close to the alignment shop you can do it yourself and have them tune it. if you can remove a coil over than its easy and if you look around ive heard of alignment specs that you can use but i paid good money for my tires and wanted a pro to make it right. the overall is that you get a hell of a good deal from a level kit vs a 6in+ lift but they do look bad *** w/ big tires
Slightly off topic:
1bad67sbf,
What size 35's are you running? I have the 2"AS kit and 20" rims. Was considering 35's next time. Any rubbing? (I know there are many threads on topic).
How hard are these to install, what do they consist of?
I have the Autospring leveling kit as well and I love it. If you have all the tools and a buddy to help you it's not that hard to install. I installed the first side with a friend of mine in about an hour and then the next side only took half an hour. I called up my tire shop and they aligned it for me for free too so that was nice.
315/70/17 they are the metric for a 35/12.50/17. they rub on the plastic bumper trim but only need 1/2 in cut off the corners and now clear everything. i dont know if you can clear 35s with a 2in level
