It's been fun, thanks all.

Well folks, I posted up my 52 for sale in the classifieds. I've searched for a 50's truck for many years and now that I found a nice clean truck. I need to sell it. The wife is a bit upset , but I've made up my mind I need a commuter vehicle more that a "toy" truck. I even thought about parking it up the back but, I'd hate to see it sit. I'm sure I'll be back.

thank you all,

bob

It looks like a solid truck and they're are getting harder to find. Hold on to it if you can, even if you just park it out back.

Come on Bob, lets not do anything hasty here.

You're old enough that you can have two vehicles, buy yourself some little crappy commuter vehicle and let the truck sit for a bit. Yea, I know, money might be a little tight for a little while and you won't be able to do much with it but it won't mind. it will still be happy to see you when things smooth back out.

There are tons of fuel efficient throwaway commuters for pretty cheap (less than $3000). Heck, you can stay with the Ford theme and pick up a mid 90's 4cyl 5spd Ranger for a decent price and still be ahead of the game.

Good luck with it whichever way you decide to go. Don't be a stranger

Hang on

Bob;

Sorry to hear of your need to get rid of your truck.

I'm with Bobby; don't make quick decision on this if you can delay getting rid of the truck, sometimes things have a way of happening to solve your problem.

Good luck with however it turns out....you can come up and work on mine if it makes you feel better LOL

Sorry to hear it, but owning a truck isn't a marriage contract. Hope you can get back into it later on in life!

Yeah Bob - Seriously, you will kick yourself for th erest of your life if you sell it. I still do for selling my 55 and that was almost 25 yeas ago.

You don't need a Mercedes to commute, there shoudl be a little Toyota truck you can pick up for a couple thousand out there!

I'd stick with it.

Hate to see you sell your nice looking truck. I know you have put a lot of work into it looks really nice. Wish it were mine I would get a small car or pickup to drive back and forth to work. I'm holding on to my 52 for ever. Think hard about getting rid of it because you will be kikking yourself forever when you do.

Are you sure that you don't have some money to buy a commuter??? Have you looked into local auctions or estate sales? You can usually pick up decent vehicles for cheap.

About two years ago I though about selling my 52 Panel, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I'll probably never find another Panel like it. It's all original and stock. Plus, no rust and it's been a local truck since brand new. It was made only about 60 miles from my house.

I've always found a way out of a hardship situation in order to spare selling the truck or the Airflow.

I hope that you're decision isn't set in stone, yet... But, whatever you do, know that you're still welcomed here any time.

An '80's or 90's Ranger can be picked up on the Cheap for a Commuter, mate!
Don't sell the Olde Girl, as has been all ready stated previously, You'll be Kickin your self for Life if you do.

It's not my decision but I vote keep the truck! I picked up a 85 nissan with 165000 miles on it for 450 bucks. Runs great , looks ok. I picked up my 55 in 1976 thought about selling it a couple times, sure glad I didn't! Good luck in which ever way you go.

Thanks all I do appreciate all the encouragement, that only make it harder. I can't say I'll be totally out of the game I know where there's a 53 just waiting to be adopted. My thinking is sell off my 52, get a more family friendly vehicle/ commuter-ish. In less than 6 months my daughter will be driving, then I can pick up another project..

something on the darkside...
