Question Stan's headers

I have an early '77 F-250 4x4 Crewcab that uses the Highboy frame and originally came with a 351 m. I installed a 460 with L&L motor mounts. I did not have to replace the towers, just the mounts themselves.

So, I recently ordered a set of headers from Stan's headers to put on my F-250. I called Stan when I ordered the headers to make sure I ordered the right ones. Well, the drivers side header does not fit. The wye from tubes 5 and 7 hits the frame tower big time.

I sent the header back to Stans along with some pictures of the interference. Stan indicated that he has never had any interferences such as I described. I don't really want to cut into the towers to make the headers fit. Seems like a backward approach to me.

I suspect that Ford made towers unique to the Highboy frame/351m combination and that headers designed for earlier highboys won't fit. I don't think headers designed for 77-1/2-79s will fit either.

Has anybody else run into this problem with their early '77s? Other experiences and/or ny suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks
