Headers, 400, 4x4, inside frame rails

Are there really no headers that fit an F250 4x4 with a 400 that fit inside the frame rails? I have only been able to find custom shops so for and they start at a grand! Does anyone know of any? Headman, Hooker, Stan's Headers (does not have any and needs the Truck to make custom ones). I do not want shorty ones.

Heres the problem with headers for your truck.........351M/400's only were introduced to 4x4's in 1977 for the last half year production of the Highboy, then came the 77-1/2, 78 and 79 F250 Lowboys, then the changed over 1980 F-series.......If your F250 4x4 is a Highboy, its a half year production only, hardly worthy of production......even assuming you have a lowboy, it was only 2-1/2 years in production......Companies typically wait a while before re-tooling for a new model, and Ford made a lot of changes during this time. During the 70's Ford went from FE to 335 Series and 385 Series engines, changed either body style or chassis multiple times. during this time frame GM kept the same frame, body style and engine families from 1973 til 1987, and Dodge kept most stuff the same from 1972-1993.

Yeah I kind of figured as such. I will investigate custom ones or just stick with my exhaust manifolds. boo hoo

Is there any photos of how the fender well ones look and are setup? I did not know about the Missouri chapter until now so THANKS!

Here is my old 4x4 79 F250 351M 4 spd with some cheap ol Hedmans, easy to install.

I have run the quick and easy header muffler route, the straights that are loud and then the straight stacks for obnoxious loud....

Out side the frame is the way to go IMO, a # of way easy ways to finish up your exhaust, mufflers and turn downs in front of the back tires ??

I have a set on my 79 f250 4x4 as well as set for sale in the classifieds. To be honest I wish I had outside the frame rail ones instead inside ones make the exhaust show kinda ugly

L&L have a thicker mount flange for about the same price I think? And are already coated.

I have the summit racing headers on my 77 2wd. Summit catalog says 4wd I believe, but with a ball peen hammer and torch, they fit. The driver side was the hardest.Passenger side just took gentle persuasion.
