I am having trouble installing new locks in my 57 doors. There is just not enough room to get the door retainer clip in or out. I forced it to come out, and ended up breaking the clip. The back of the retainer clip actually has a tab that fits into a slot in the door. I just can't see any way to install the door lock, and then install the retainer clip. Can anyone give me sime advice?
Hi,
Sorry I didn't log on sooner. Looks like you've found the slot in the side of the door undernieth the weather stripping.
Did your replacement clips fit okay? I had replaced mine a few years back. I ordered a new set from 2 different companies, and both sets of clips were too long. I had to cut them down and put new bends on them.
Anyway, I hope all went okay.
Kenny,
Thanks for your help. I used the old clips, but have ordered some new ones from Sacramento Vintage...It was kinda hard to get the clips back in place. I appreciate and share your admiration for these year models!
