Ford put 300's in the F-550's, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's a 300.
Did Ford even put another gasoline I6 in the F-550 - F-700's?
I don't think they did here (the F700s) those had either 330 or 361 V8s as base engines. The 300 was available in F500s and 600s if memory serves me correct.
This is the 2nd thread the OP has typed on this subject in the last coupla days.
As I typed in the other thread, the F700 was not available with a 300 I-6 in the US/Canada. The only I-6 these F700's had was the Dagenham/Dorset 363 cid diesel.
Vehicles sold elsewhere (i.e. Australia/New Zealand/South Africa) have features not found US/Canada vehicles.
The ID engineering number from the intake manifold is actually C5AE9425J
Ford part number: C5AZ9424E = 1965/74 240 & 1965/76 300 I-6's.
btw: During this time frame, there was no such thing as an F550.
The Ant -
Go w/Bill (Prts Dummy). He knows his stuff, helped me (lots of others). I just didn't know he had the foreign country stuff too (U whilie devil u!).
Ant - Ask some of the mates on the falcon site down under.
Sorry, forgot -
Wanted to welcome you to the site. Enjoy the visit. Hope you had all your shots. And plez, share some of that good stuff from OZ-Land.
BTW: Plez no 'cross posts'. If U place the same Qs around and about it becomes somewhat confusing (for 'both partgies'). Again enjoy and drop any pic U have so we can see!

Thanks for the welcome. It definitely is a 300 6 cylinder petrol engine with a 5 speed box that come with it. The F-700 was a prime mover with a 2 speed diff before being dismantled so I guess the gearbox would be sturdy enough to handle a modified 300 engine.?
Here is the Ebay link where I bought it from. I bought the engine and 5 speed transmission for $200 Aus
Too bad we can't C: 1) the 'box' (trani) and 2) other side of the motor. That (#2) would help answ if the 300 was built for the bigger rigs (30,000lb haul cap o0OPPpss I forgot the exh. manifold IS on that side. Couldn't see it, if I looked...
Again a pic, when U get it home, if U have that capacoty, would help.
Still waitin 4 that fosters...
We call it '2 speed rear' (I believe what we would mean) and yes with THAT and the HD exhaust manif it would B similar to a F700 over here.
Like Monti1go said it could all B swapped out but they would be compatable driveline prts.
Just outta curiosity, post the tag on the trany, I'd like to know what they put behind THAT 300. U said it's a 5 speed ( I'm sure it aint the mazda on the F150, could be a ZF if it wuz newer - not in 1970 tho)...eaton?
Not familiar w/that, but they put all sorts of (your wrds) 'boxes' behind them...
Guys, any ideas, sound failure. Get the numbers, may B Parts Dummy can help.
