Some of you were trying to help me with some issues I was having with the brakes on my 98 Expy so I thought a update was in order.
I changed all four rotors with ones that are slotted and cross drilled. I changed the pads to ceramic and I put on new front calipers (the bleeders were frozen). I found that the front brake line on the engine cradle was really rusted so I changed that as well.
After reverse bleeding and then pressure bleeding the brake pedal is still as spongy as it was before. The brakes themselves are absolutely awesome with the new rotors and pads, but the pedal feel is still lousy. The only thing i havent changed is the ABS unit. What do you guys think ? Should I try it ?
Reverse bleeding is when you use a hand pump to inject brake fluid in through the bleeder on the caliper- the theory being that air rises to the top. Its supposed to work better in abs systems.
Pressure bleeding is when you use a external pressurized container of brake fluid connected to the master cylinder to force brake fluid through the system when you open a bleeder.
Did you check the brake hoses, they may be spongey. If they are fine all you have left is the master cylinder. Does the pedal bleed to the floor under pressure or hold, just spongey?
I don't mean to insult you intelligence but could you have got the calipers on the wrong sides . They WILL interchange but the bleeder screws will end up on the bottom making bleeding all the air out impossible.
