It sounds OK to me. I think this is similar to what mine sounds like but a little bit quieter. I went for something like 2" exhaust about 4 years ago and it looks stock but is custom made (mandrel bent tubes).
Do you notice a torque increase? I did with mine - my engine doesn't have to work as hard on the really tough hills...that's the only difference I've noticed, and that's precisely what I was aiming for.
Yes, I did notice a significant increase across the entire powerband. I frequently haul a lot of heavy loads, and it doesn't have to drop out of overdrive very often, only on the very steepest hills.

That's a Bonus. Often said that the noisy exhaust is least power efficient. Sounds like a good compromise. Cant really hear the tone though without a good sound system connected................ speaker on my computer is far too whimpy!
The Allied unit drones, plus it rots out. How does this sound tinny? Thats the problem with most PC speakers, they do not do most sounds like these justice. Trust me, when you hear this in person, they do not sound tinny. The point is to get better performance without being overly loud. This is a difficult thing to do as most mufflers are either quiet yet restrictive, or free flowing but loud. This is free flowing yet moderately quiet.
There is a fair amount of power steering whine, which is part of the higher frequency stuff you hear. Then the other thing is when you snap the throttle to redline, how else is it supposed to sound?
Does anyone know where I can get a PS pump that doesn't whine?

A genuine Ford rebuild with synthetic Dexron with a little LubeGuard red.
The trouble is, most people call around to 10 different parts stores trying to find the cheapest one and then they complain when it is noisy. Ford put out a TSB on the whine cure.

Is that the TSB (DEXRON and Lubeguard)? Will this work on an original Ford pump?

Maybe it wasn't a genuine TSB that you could look up through Ford. However, the last Ford pump I installed had a long, drawn out pamphlet inside the box that went into detail why a Ford rebuilt pump has a much less chance of being whiny as compared to a cheap aftermarket pump. I've always topped it off with Lubeguard Red as cheap insurance.
Except for the cost of a turkey baster and the Lubeguard, it really won't hurt to try.
I don't need need to replace my pump yet, but I do want a quiet one. I guess a genuine Ford pump it will be then.
It's all about clean, keep the thing clean at all cost. I looked at the factory rebuild manual. and all it takes is a few bad scares from dirt or dust. and the pump chatters like crazy.
Well what happened is the infamous water leaking onto the pump cap, and I guess it froze. Ice in the pump is a bad deal. I had it flushed out, but its been getting noisy ever since that happened. I now have a soda can cut in half and slipped over the top of the cap to prevent that from happening further, but the damage has already been done.
I have not replaced my pump, but my Dad's ranger got a rebuilt pump and it was noisy right from the get go, it sounded about the same as the old leaky one we replaced, the only difference is the rebuilt one doesn't leak.
