Thanks, that tells me the lighingt could be something other than the EGR cooler being gone.

I've got an 01/05 build date and deleted the egr and never got a cel before I bought the tuner. Drove it for a few months and no cel.

Thanks for all your help guys. I didnt get the V clamp on the turbo correctly. It was leaking. The tip of the day was the piece of paper on the stick. It worked great. My tip to Rick... make sure the exhause clicks into the turbo, and lines up nicely before putting the clamp on, and buy band-aids.

The leak is gone, but it idles and runs rough. I will try a set of fuel filters and some diesel fuel conditioner. Is there anything elce I should try?

Try draining your HFCM ....then cycle the ignition KOEO three times at 30 second intervals...after the third key cycle you should have purged the air out of the system and should be pressurized and running fine.

That makes sence. My fuel pump keeps running even after the injectors buzz when I turn my key on. It could very well be some air in the line. I will try that when I change the filters tomorrow.

Thank you,
Brad

it can take up to 100 miles to purge all the air out of both systems. check it for codes. if its really bad the most common is not seating a ficm connector correctly, also injector connectors.

I vote air in the HPO system also. It can take miles and days to purge the air out of the system sometimes. I got to filling my oil rails after installing them to help with the long crank to start times and it STILL takes days to start normally.

Well it's been 3 days and 250 km since I finished the egr cooler delete and the oil cooler swap. The darn thing is still running like a bag of hammers. It seems like I am driving on washboard, even though I am on the freeway. It mostly happens around 1300- 1500 rpm. I had hoped it would work itself out by now.
I changed the fuel filter and some fresh rotella. My friend has a code reader, I will borrow it on Sunday. If ther is something else I could try please let
me know.

Thanks, brad

Hi guys, she's still not running well after i did the EGR cooler delete with the cooler change. I also put a new pump screen and turbo drain plug in. Now she is not running all that well. It idles rough. It almost sounds like my old 7.3. Once I get the rpm’s up it seems to smooth out. When I go down the highway it seems like I am driving on washboard. It is especially noticeable at 50mph and around 1500rpm.
Some of the things I have tried:
Drained and replaced the fuel filters.
Pulled my FICM again and inspected all the contacts.
Checked each injector plug, they seem fine.
Voltage check on my FICM, running, KOEO & during injector buzz.
One thing I have noticed is my fuel pump runs for 15 seconds or so. Is this normal? I never noticed that before.
A friend has a generic code reader. I will need to wait until the weekend to borrow it. Do you think it will help me? Should I go to the diesel performance shop up the street and ask them to put it on their reader instead?

Thank you for all your advice!!!
Brad

See what the code scanner has to offer. I thought it would have straightened out by now also. It may be something just coincidental that happened with your other repairs. It's normal for the fuel pump to run for a few seconds with key on engine off and then shut off.

Hi guys, I double checked my connectors again. Pulling them off, inspecting then, then putting them back on I didn’t see any problems. When I pulled it out of my shop it ran great. I drove it to work… it still ran great. As usual, you guys were right, there must have been a loose connection I missed somewhere.

Anyway, I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!! You were such a big help.
