I was driving down the road today, when all of the sudden the front right tire started knocking. So I stopped to look what was up. One lug nut was missing, three more where almost completely unthreaded and the other 4 were slightly loose. Figured I'd better check the other tires and found the front left were also loose, but not as bad. Luckly, there was no damage and all is well now.
So the question is, can the lugs just loosen up on American Racing rims, or did someone try to steel my wheels?
Yes if you just had the tires off and were not torqued after the first drive, I have had this happen not to long ago on my wife's SUV but I ended up buying a new rim because the lug holes were egg shaped LOL
I didn't have the rims off but the guy I bought it from probably did. I can honestly say that I have never had lugs come loose from a rim. Even aluminum mag rims. But I guess you learn something new everyday. I can use this an excuse to buy nice torque wrench! How are the craftsman torque wrenches?
