Van Engine same as OBS Engines ?

Okay guys I know Iam posting in the wrong section but I think my questions are for OBS trucks. Okay here it is I have 01 SD and can get my hands on a 7/97 ford 4x4 van. Will the parts from 01 such as turbo ,Tubo ped,up pipes, hpop, etc fit on the 97 I wanted to replace the PMR engine. It only has 75000 miles runs good no oil leaks . Should I be checking other things did I miss anything. Any info would be greatfuly appreciated

Thanks

there will be alot of swapping takin place but i think it can be done. i know you will have to put the sd exhaust manifolds, up pipes, collector, and turbo and pedistal on the 97 motor, but you have to swap it all over at once. you will also have to swap your 3" plenums onto the older motor as i think they are 2". this is all to make it fit up with your i/c. but if you use the turbo and exhaust system and intercooler setup you have in your truck now im pretty sure it will fit. oh yeah and you will need to swap your 17* pump over and injectors and uvch's.
Im sure somebody else will have more info too.
P.S. what is gonna happen to the 4x4 setup from the van?

Hey, I am doing the SD intake/manifold swap this summer, too.

My understanding is that the passenger exhaust manifold is the same, but the drivers side SD manifold is a tad longer and makes the up-pipe swap easier. Andy is right about everything from the manifold to the intercooler getting swapped. You'll want the longer SD oil fill tube, too.

It'll be a fun and interesting swap.

Hey Andy thanks for the info. Okay it looks like I will be able to swap every thing over. Is the uvch's the connector at the VC's. If so I notice the 97 motor has a smaller connector. So i will be able to take the one from the 01 and used that on the 97. What kind of injector does the 97 motor has? For the 4x4 setup not sure might just sell all the parts.

Thanks

The 97 had two different options for injectors. There was a federal emissions motor that had ~92cc single shot AA code injectors and there was a Cali Emissions motor that had ~120cc split-shot AB code (I think) injectors. The easiest way it to pull the VC off and see what the code is on the injector solenoid, CODE followed by a bunch of number. If they are the AA's then you are probably better off with them because single shots are better, but you will need the IDM or PCM from the van and swap it or them into the SD. And if you want to use the electric fuel setup from the SD into the OBS motor you will need to swap the HPO Res too because of the fuel bowl locations, unless you have a bowl delte setup. There might be some other stuff that IDK about, hopefully MADVAN will see this a post up cuz he would probably know for sure.

Okay guys would it be easier to just install forged rods on the 01 motor? Will it require a machine shop?

Gonna be a lot of work either way. If I were installing new rods I'd have them, the crank, and pistons checked for sure at a machine shop. I'd install new rings, bearings, etc. since the motor would be stripped.

"flippin" powder rods sure making lots of work for you here.

Yep lots of work but I don't mind doing the work. Just try to avoid the machine shop right now because I would have to get every ship out to do the work. Thats why I was thinking van motor and later I can work on the 01 block when $$$$ and time is available.
