Just finished looking at some 2011's and to shock the salesperson said Ford was expecting 27mpg Highway for the new 250. I cant believe it. What does the 2010 250 deisel produce for HWY mpg?
Rule number one, don't believe anything the salesman tells you.
When the 6.4l came out magazines were testing the 6.4l and getting almost 17mpg. The guys in the real world who have 6.4l never saw anywhere close to that. I'll wait to see what actual owners have to say after they put some miles on their trucks.

Now that's just not true. I've gotten 18 on one tank before. 15-16 is more realistic for empty highway cruising. I hand calculate my MPGs every tank as well.
I also know that a properly tuned 6.4L can easily break 20 MPG. Many running the Spartan package have been getting over 20 for some time now. So I believe 20 is achievable with the new engine considering the need for less efficiency robbing EGR with the new SCR aftertreatment system.

I don't see 27, but can see the 20-22 that are on the videos. Real world I think you will see high teens low twenties, depending on how people drive. Remember, the ones driving in the video have been trained to drive those trucks and know all the tricks. best way to get the most MPG out of your SD, go to Youtube and search for gas saving driving tips. I am sure there are a TON of videos there on the subject.
I get just under 27mpg if i turn off my truck and coast down hill with the wind at my back.
Shoot, that's nothin'. I got 42MPG once on a 500 mile run. Just used a tow bar on my truck to hook up behind a big rig that was parked behind the local truck stop. As soon as he started rolling I fired up the engine, turned up the tunes and kicked back. Would have gotten about 100 MPG if I didn't have to run the engine to keep the radio from draining the battery. 'Course, since I picked a truck going the wrong way I had to burn my own gas getting back.
