302 Exhaust problems

Hey, on my 95 302 Ive got shorty headers, the bassani stainless, cat-less 2.5-3" Y pipe, and one 3" moroso spiralflow muffler.
Links to my stuff:

Part# 501502 Bassani Exhaust - Bassani.com

Moroso 94051 Moroso Spiral Flow Mufflers

Problem is I think the exhaust is getting too hot. Soon as I turn the truck on, the pipes are HOT... with the old system it took a lot longer it seemed for the pipes to get too hot to touch. The black paint has already all burned off the muffler, turning it a chalky white, and the stainless pipes are all discolored from the heat. What Im wondering is, Is this pipe just too big for a stock 302? Am I loosing too much exhaust velocity, causing the gasses to over heat the pipe? Thanks for any opinions, look forward to hearing from someone w/ more knowledge than me.

The exhaust is pulling a lot more air out of the motor at a faster rate so you can expect the whole system to be hotter much further back than the stock system.. the exhaust doesn't have time to cool off before it's out the tailpipe. This is very common so don't worry about it. Incidentally how is your fuel milage since this change?

Kinda hard to tell on that one yet. I was getting roughly 13mpg, the first tank through I got 11... But that was the first tank, full of heavy pedal listening to my cool new exhaust. Next tank I got 12.8, but that was with a trip w/ some friends up the interstate doin 75-80, and alot of cruzing around town. I havnt had a good tank of regular driving yet.

Good to hear its normal, I was getting worried
