I need help please, I'm building a 1970 429 can anyone tell me if there is a bolt hole location guide for the differant lengths of bolts
that bolt the water pump to the housing to the block?
Well, the arp kit is great. However My experience is that an aftermarket water pump may add to the confusion. The aluminum water pump that got was thicker in several locations which required fasteners that were not original length or in the arp kit. If using a stock pump it should not be too hard to figure out.
I've used a couple of the ARP kits and in the box they have a notice stating that due to the numerous variety of fasteners on engines, etc., etc. and provide an 800 number to call. On one occassion they sent me a new (different) set of intake manifold bolts n/c because the kit bolts didn't all fit.
Probably cheaper to clean up the old bolts and take them to a nut and bolt store for matching, but the time spent cleaning, driving and matching and driving can be lengthy. And the stores where I live always seem to be out of something other than the common sizes.
The ARP folks are nice to deal with (no affiliation) and have an excellent tech department that knows their stuff.
