so i have to tow a huge trailer tomorrow and need brakes. I had bought the brake controller with the ford harness thinking it would plug right in. well it didnt. I found four wires (blue, red, white, black) hanging out under the hood just to the right of the vaccum booster for the brakes. so i figured it had a brake controller at one time and i just hook into these wires and im golden!
well i hooked into them and nothing! no battery power, no ground, and no brake power. i cant really test the blue one.
so i checked all my fuses and such with little luck
The 4 wires left of the brake booster are spare wires that just go thru the firewall and come out close to the steering post inside the truck.I have the built inn controller so I dont know if your truck has a plug under the dash to hook up the brake controller.I would call your Ford dealer.
What you found are called the "blunt cut wires." These are just wires that pass through the firewall for hooking up accessories.
Somewhere under your dashboard will be a plug that interfaces with the controller you purchased. I also have the factory TBC, so I can't help you with the location.
