Hate the way my 4 in exhaust sounds!

I don't like the "fluttering/slapping" sound my 4 inch exhaust makes at all! Some of you guys may like it, but I don't. I want to leave the 4 inch on but I want to replace the muffler to quieten it down. Can you guys make a suggestion on a muffler?

Thanks, David

When I ordered my MBRP 4" SS exhaust, it came with a muffler. Glad I installed it. I know they sell the muffler by itself. Give Clay a call, he may have something special for you.

The 4 in. exhaust I had on my 7.3 still had the flutter even with the muffler on, I only heard it with the windows down though. I think it's probably just the nature of the beast.

Yeah, my muffler is installed and I think you are right, it is the nature of the beast but I have gotten to a point that I despise that sound. I remember being able to see straight through the muffler so its probably not reducing noise at all. Yes you can hear it with the windows down much more than when they are closed. I know that if you reduce noise you are restricting flow somewhat but I am willing to do that to get rid of the noise.

Did you install the muffler with the baffle openings facing the exhaust flow?

It's because of the turbo. Mine sounds SO good at WOT next to a solid wall, I don't mind the turbo flutter.

I remember it had an arrow for the flow direction and I made sure it was installed the right direction.

It was just a thought to throw out. Search the Walker site for a muffler that will suit your needs?

I guess a lot of people like it but not me. I'm trying to find a muffler that will eliminate it. Called MBRP and they said the M2029 might do it. I wish I knew for a fact that it would, I'd get it in a heartbeat but I hate to spend the money and have the same thing.

No tunnels here. So highway barriers & subdivision walls have to do...

That would negate the flowing properties of the 4" exhaust IMO. Better off with a 4" muffler that will suit his needs.
