Dang, I love it. Could you install a nitrogen generator too, so your tires wouldn't blow up with that air you are compressing? ;o)

Looks great Derek.

Where did you pick up power for the compressor? Are you switching it from one of your upfitters?

I'm looking to do an on-board air set up myself. I'm hoping to just piece something together (hopefully keeping the cost LOOOWWW).

Any ideas?
Anything I should consider a 'must have' or a 'must not have'?

Steve, I wired in a self switching battery isolator and added a third battery real close to the compressor. I wired a separate switch to the inside of the cubby box (next to the right knee on the dash, below and right of the up-fitters) didn't want to have the key on for the compressor to run. I also pull power from a junction close to the 3rd battery for the stereo amps.
The isolator only supplies power to the 3rd battery (from the oem batteries) when there is more then 13v (when charging), this way the draw on the 3rd cannot kill the oem batteries for starting.

I'll post more pics when I get home....don't have the cord to my camera here.

If going with a small compressor, try to get as much tank as you can. Try to use d.o.t. tubing as well...it is rated for really cold temps and used in air brake applications. You'll also want to plumb the intake to the inside of the cab so you're not pulling dirt into the compressor. Viair makes good 12v compressors, in the interest of saving $...my suggestion is to just buy the system piece by piece and don't settle for the cheap stuff, otherwise you'll end up spending more down the road to replace it.

So here's my 10" X 31", refurbished semi air tank (~ 11 gallons) installed on the inside of the driver's side frame rail.

I welded up some brackets that bolt to the frame rail and re-used the original hangers (threaded round stock) to hang the tank. The tank hangs down about 2-3" below the frame rail.

I'm using dual 400c compressors mounted in my tool box to fill the tank.

I'm using two muffin fans to draw air through the box to help cool the compressors. The compressors and fans are controlled by the pressure switch via three relays.

I have a 1/2" line and solenoid valve supplying air to my everyday horn (single bell Buell).

Below the solenoid valve is another 1/2" ball valve that isolates the external air fitting.

The air fitting is located in a factory hole just below the front of the rear passenger's door (on driver's side).

That's a nice setup. I'll eventually add a tank like that too. Right now I'm working on finding a place for the K5LA train horns.

Steve, here's the pics.

Nice air compressor setups.

Reps to all who have posted up pics. Well, except for Senix, gotta spread it around more first. Can somebody rep Senix for me?

This is something that would be awesome to install and setup but I don't have an immediate use for it. Its pretty low on my to-do list. Maybe someday I'll install some bags on the back and do it.

Rotun, You don't have any spare Nathans for sale, do you? A friend is in the market for a set-up.

Thanks for the good ideas.

Sorry, bought mine on ebay for $630 from taakersc (Ted Akers).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=200442340817

Did alot of searching and $aving and found a few but were not rebuilt so I went ahead and bought from Akers. Depending on how long he can wait, just keep checking Craigslist, ebay.

Thanks!

I bought the Oasis online from the cheapest dealer I could find, was still $spendy though. As for the d.o.t. lines we have a place called "Hose Man" here that makes, stocks every kind of hose/ fittings anyone could ever need. Some of the components I purchased here.
