2-3 shift question

I have a 2000 5.4 ext cab. Currently at 102500. When I purchased it I did a tranny service on it at 98200.

I am having some troubles with the 2 to 3 shift. It just started a few days ago. The tranny shifts fine into 2nd but then it will hold till 3k rpms and start whistling at me? I almost sounds like a vac leak but I know its not vacuum controlled. It will finally shift into 3rd and the shift is firm no clunking, grinding or slipping? This happens when i just drive normal around town, not under hard acceleration. Before, I usually noticed it to shift right around 2k. Not showing any codes as of yet.

Last night I did another tranny service, I also added some Lucas, So far on the way to work it is still acting funny.

Anyone have this problem or have an idea what It could be.

Thanks
Doug

Since no member on FTE had any input. I thank you for that. I will answer my own question.

I found the return spring broken into 3 pieces on the 2-3 accumulator piston

Thanks again

Patience is key on something like this-not everybody will know the answer or even where to start looklng. I only saw this post just now and was going to reply with that very thing to check.
Accumulator spring breakage does happen from time to time on the 4R70W,as well as some valvebody gasket failures I've seen a few times that'll cause oddball shifting.

Hey Doug,
Where do you look for this accumulator piston spring. I have issues when my truck downshifts from 4-3. Is this an easy fix and where would you find the replacement spring?
