Trans problem
Hi everyone, 94 3.0lt 2wd. When im driving about 50mph in overdrive, it feels like the t.c. is coming out of lockup. Not really a downshift, just sounds like an increase in rpms, then it will lockup and unlock repeatedly.
any thoughts?

Fluid level is fine. Just exchanged all the fluid 10 months ago when i installed a new trans cooler. I think i've read on hear before about the tourque converter lockup solenoid, but the search function didn't give much. Is this solenoid internal?

yes, the TC lockup solenoid is internal inside the pan mounted on the valve body.
these Aeros have a sensitive prog. in the PCM that kicks the tranny out of TC lockup on the slightest issue.
subtle miss that you can't even feel other than the TC out of LU
minor overheating
if not the above
there is an ohm meter test for the TC LU solenoid but can't find the values now.
tranny ATF line pressure low, seal leaks, VB leaks or worn pump
worn out TC
what ATF did you use? these are sensitive to ATF type. Mercon rated only.

That makes me think, i did get the check engine light this morning for about 10 seconds, then went out. Driving home this afternoon it felt like it was gear hunting a couple times, then drove pretty smooth the remaining 10 miles home. i'll check tomorrrow and see if it stored any codes, thanks
