How to disable the lock-up torque converter..

in a 1991 AOD 5.0L. I think the lock-up converter is malfuntioning and I would like to disable it to see if the problem I am experiencing goes away. I believe there is a trans temp sensor that keeps the lock-up from working until the trans temp gets to at least 100 degrees. How would I unhook this sensor? Is it inside the trans? Is it fused? Thanks.

That's a mechanical lockup. There is no electrical signal. You probably could find a way to disable it with a complete trans teardown and some modifications. There's no way to trick it.

If it were a '92 or newer AODE it would be easy to do.
