Well did the tow from eastern NH to Western NY(500 miles), which I took RT 7 through VT no western US mountains but enough to test 14-15K # load. Just using the 87 Performance/tow tune and I like how it held on the steep grade climb from about 450' to 2400'. Then on the long I90 it never kicked down more than 1 gear on some of the hills, which the last time I did this run with the same load it would take 2 gears.
After dropping the skid steer took the trailer(5000#) into PA (200 miles) didn't even bother with tow/haul no searching for gears at all.
Drove to RI after and the seat of the pants feel is pretty sweet. After the first 85K miles without the tune and now with I can feel the difference for sure, there is no throttle lag and it feels like it has a little more bite when driving .
If you can spear the money I don't think you would be disappointed at all. FORD definitely left a little power on the table to be had. I'll know after a week if the mileage increased any.
Once again, Thanks Mike. Great job and great service.
Hi scraprat
Thanks for the real world feedback. I was hoping we would make a passing grade. . That was a nice load to test out new found torque and power.
Mike, I just received mine today!! I plugged er in and put the 91 performance tune in. I have been driving it stock with the Banks power pack for a couple of weeks and after I put the tune in--- WOW does it go now. The throttle response is almost like the first time I put an aluminum intake on too replace a cast one. Great shifting that takes you well into the power band when the hammer is down. A person might notice the throw you in the seat torque. Yet the drivability is still there when you're not on the gas. Good job Mike it is nice to see someone take the time to tinker with the 10's and get the results that we all want.
PS: can't wait to see the turbo ten.
Cool Thanks for the feedback. I am very glad you likey..
And Saggys nothing wrong with that 9 yr old truck.. Sounds like its running great! Thanks also for feedback!
