My 5 yr old daughter fell in the yard the other day and broken her arm just below the shoulder. She screamed and cried when it first happened, but after that she just said she couldn't move it. She didn't have any pain after the initial fall. And her arm didn't look any different. No swelling or anything out of the ordinary. We weren't even gonna do anything about it. The wife decided to take her to the doctor just in case. The doc sent her for an x-ray and it was a complete break. We couldn't believe it. I never broke any bones so I don't know what its like. But I can't believe the little trooper hasn't complained about any pain at all. Its been 5 days now. So I guess sometimes its good to be cautious even when you think nothing is wrong.
My son broke his arm twice (same location on arm)when he was that age.
Broken(fractured) bones are hard to detect, so an ER is the best medicine.
Kids ARE very tough!
I'm sorry to hear that your daughter broke an arm.
My youngest son broke his little finger, on his left hand, when he was 7.
Because of the location of the break, the doctors put him 'under' using general anesthesia, to set the break.
Brad acted as if he had a 'war wound' walking around with a splint on his hand/finger!
Kids. They WILL be kids!!!
On the other hand (pardon the pun!). . . I broke my neck in '01, and went to work for two days (and drove to/from) before the pain was so intense that I had to go to the doctor!!!
(Broke the C6 vertabrae and crushed the C5-6 disk!)

Especially with old people that fell.
I worked with a mechanic and his wife dislocated a kid's shoulders from taking those arm floaties off. So, when my kids were playing and the youngest complained about her shoulder hurting we took her to the doctors and it was dislocated. If I hadn't known about it before, it never would have occurred to me. We have strict rules now about swinging kids by their arms. For some reason kids are not built as well as they use to be
My youngest son and his friend were playing soccer against his older brother on his birthday and the brother kicked the ball and hit his arm. He kept saying that it hurt, but there wasn't anything to indicate that anything was broke so we thought it was just bruised. Finally took him to the doctor and yes it broke. He hasn't let us live that one down yet.
My youngest daughter fell off the jungle gym at school and broke her collar bone when she was 10 years old. At the time she was learning to pitch woman's fast pitch softball. The Dr. said she could pitch for a couple of years and her career would be over or she could step out of the circle and play as long as she wants.
She ended her pitching career that day. Now she's a kick a$$ catcher with college level possibilities.
